In-line hydraulic filtration cleans oil as it flows through the working circuit (pressure, return, or suction lines), protecting components in real time. Offline filtration, also called kidney-loop filtration, uses a separate pump and filter to continuously clean the reservoir oil, independent of machine operation. In-line filters defend against contamination generated and ingested during operation, while offline filters deliver finer filtration, water removal, and cleanliness recovery. For most industrial and mobile systems, the most reliable approach is to use both.
