To select the correct hydraulic fitting for a high-pressure application, match the fitting's working pressure rating (with a safety factor of at least 4:1 against burst pressure) to the system's maximum pressure, including spikes; choose a sealing style suited to the pressure and vibration level (such as ORFS, SAE flange, or 24-degree cone); pick a material compatible with the fluid and environment; and make sure the thread type, size, and hose or tube connection all match exactly. Never mix thread standards, and always verify the rating of the weakest component in the assembly. In a high-pressure hydraulic system, the fitting is often the first component to fail. A hose can be rated for 5,000 PSI, a pump can deliver it reliably, and yet a mismatched or under-rated fitting can leak, blow out, or inject oil at lethal velocity. Choosing the right fitting is not just a purchasing decision. It is a safety and reliability decision that affects uptime, maintenance cost, and operator protection.
